Getting to know African Secret

African Secret stands as a beacon of South African heritage, blending tradition with innovation to create a unique array of products that resonate with both locals and tourists alike. Our commitment to sourcing from local farms and businesses not only ensures the quality and authenticity of our ingredients but also fosters economic empowerment within our communities.

Phytomedicine and Natural Products studies and Cosmetic Formulation training, enabled the founder, Stacey Jane Smith, to hone in on the healing power of botanicals and develop effective plant-based products using indigenous plants to help improve skin health and improve wellbeing.  Stacey Jane developed her passion for creating effective plant-based products while pregnant and searching for products to nourish her stretching skin and prevent stretchmarks. After failing to find natural local solutions and discovering harmful ingredients in commercial personal care products, she created her first product, which was extremely effective.

“What we put on, goes in!”
“Our skin is the largest and most permeable organ in our bodies, with more than 2 million holes across it.  That fact alone made me want to be more mindful of what I put on my and my family’s bodies. Nature has blessed us with healing plants to help combat and relieve common ailments – this is evident from remedies passed down from generations, and now proven by scientific studies.”  Stacey Jane

Our Mission is to research and harness the power of South Africa’s rich Cape Floral Kingdom and indigenous knowledge, proven by science, to create authentic, high-quality personal care products that nourish the skin, uplift the senses, and celebrate South Africa’s heritage.

We are committed to ethical sourcing and empowering local communities through every product we create.  Driven by a passion for sustainability, we carefully select recyclable and reusable packaging materials, minimizing our environmental footprint.

Stacey Jane is an incubatee of UVU Bio (BioCiTi Labs), ‘a specialised biotech incubator that provides African entrepreneurs a platform where science and business can come together’.

We look forward to you enjoying our products – all made with love.
