Ways of Wellness Health & Beauty Spa Gift

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that I am a brand ambassador for Ways of Wellness (WOW) health & beauty spa. Located in the quiet suburb of Kenilworth in Cape Town, South Africa, this quaint and cosy spa is popular among locals for their beauty treatments ranging from facials and massages to waxing and manicures! I was lucky to enough to meet one of the owners, Terri, on my last visit and was blown away by how warm and genuine she was. It was clear that she really had a passion for her business and that she always puts her customers needs first.

To learn more about this spa itself, read my previous post here.

Ways of Wellness sells a range of beauty products, including African Secrets, Wriggly Tin, Nikel Cosmetics. All the brands mentioned are proudly South African – and even better – not only are they all local but they are all natural, vegan, cruelty-free and hypoallergenic too!

I was lucky enough to be gifted with some of the products that ways of Wellness sells and put the to the test!

African Secrets Rooibos All-in-1 Wash (250ml)

FullSizeRender-1

For those of you who are unaware, rooibos is a popular South African plant known for its medicinal and healing qualities. It is often used in cuisines, teas and sometimes even beauty products. This particular body wash contains coconut oil as well which is extra moisturising for the skin. This is all all over body wash which can be used for face, body and hair.  Because it’s all natural, it is suitable for people of all ages and those with sensitive skin. The formula smells distinctly of rooibos but is not overpowering in any way. It lathers well and creates a rich white lather and once rinsed off, it leaves your skin feeling smooth and fresh but not dry or tight. This was my favourite product of the pack and I have used it often since I received it because it does wonders for my skin.

Wriggly Tin Naturals Beeswax Shea and Vanilla Lipbalm

Because this product is natural, it does not contain the strong smells of most beauty brands at your local supermarket. This one does have a faint almost woody smell with the faintest hint of vanilla. Once opened for the first time, the lip balm has a hard top layer which needs to be smoothed over before it can be used. I am not really a fan of lip balm pots because they get your fingers dirty and sticky afterwards. This one has a sticky, thick texture but one applied on the lips it can be massaged into the lips to create a thin layer and allow the shea butter to penetrate into the lips leaving them soft and smooth. It doesn’t have a colour but does have a slight sheen.

Ways of Wellness Activated Charcoal Peel Off Mask

This mask is pretty interesting. The formula itself is dry and dusty and you have to follow the instructions on the back to create the mixture which is quite a process so I would recommend using this mask as a treat when you have time to relax. To create the correct consistency for the mask mixture, simply mix one heaped teaspoon of the powder mixture into bowl with some water to create a thick jelly texture and then heat it in the microwave for approximately 5-10 seconds. Once applied, leave it to dry for 20-30 minutes and then peel it off starting from the edges, doing so gently so as not to cause any damage to the skin. Charcoal is known for removing impurities and oils so this would be right up your ally if you suffer from oily skin.
